Herbitas orthoplasty starter kit

Working method for creating an orthotic with the Herbitas starter kit

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the product.
2. Slightly moisten the patient's foot.
3. Using a measuring spoon, take the necessary amount of silicone and knead it well.
4. Add a few drops of catalyst depending on the amount of silicone (1 drop per gram of silicone).
5. Mix vigorously for 20 seconds.
6. Form a ball or a roll depending on the orthotic to be made.
7. When you feel the silicone becoming less soft, create the orthotic.
8. Leave the orthotic on the foot for a few minutes.
9. Gently remove the orthotic from your patient's foot.

• Advise the patient to wait 24 hours for the catalyzation to be complete.

Advice

• Always take the silicone with a measuring spoon.
• Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the product.
• Close the lid tightly after use.
• The orthotic hardens after a few minutes, but it is obvious that this time may vary depending on the ambient temperature, your hands, and the patient's foot.
• Store your silicone jars and the catalyst in a cool place.

Why create an orthoplasty?

• Orthoplasty is recommended when your patient complains of pain caused by rubbing or friction but also due to a corn or callus.
• In some cases, the podiatrist will create an orthoplasty to correct the foot.

·        The purpose of an orthotic is:

• Relief, protection and/or prevention of a problem.
• A simple correction of hammer toes for example to prevent worsening of the deformity.
• A correction to the original position of the toes.
